Argosy was the first pulp fiction magazine in the United States. Although respected during many periods of its publication history, it was referred to by Vonnegut scholar Jerome Klinkowitz as one of the “low ends of male interest journals” by the 1950s.[1] It was in print from 1882 to 1978. Vonnegut published two early short stories in it.
